Acton Midwest — providing a hands-on approach to education

Our Approach to

21st-Century Education

Our purpose as educators is to ensure that each child who enters Acton Academy finds a calling that changes the world. Our STEM-based curriculum encourages independent thinkers to find joy in learning through critical thinking and hands-on experimentation. Our school is structured to be a tight-knit community, upholding the highest standards of educational excellence for our leaders, guides, and learners.

Encouraging growth through exploration while harnessing a learner's innate talents and abilities, we work to develop independent thinkers who will ultimately make their own unique impact on the world.

Joy + Rigor + Grit = Mastery

"Embracing rigor is part of saying 'yes' to a Hero's Journey. Deep learning brings a special sense of joy, but the mastery required for a Hero's Journey goes even further, requiring commitment, discipline and hard work towards a worthy goal."

"Our daughter loves learning at Acton. She can’t wait to share her day the moment she jumps into the car. I’m so grateful to see a love for learning come back into her eyes." — Acton Midwest Parent

Leaving the Class Behind

At Acton Midwest, you'll find we've ditched traditional American classrooms for learning studios. We've replaced instructors with Socratic Guides. And we've remodeled the grading system into a merit system that rewards individualism, critical thinking and innovation.
