LEARNING STUDIOS

WONDER

Grades PreK to 1st Grade (Ages 4 - 6)

Wonder Studio learners build a foundation of skills in reading, math, science and citizenship. The self-driven, cooperative environment also promotes their emotional and social development. The Wonder years provide a foundation for further development and a familiarity with the Acton way.

Wonder Studio learners enter the next studio with the ability to:

• Cooperate with others

• Self-Regulate

• Contribute to group

DISCOVERY

Grades 2 to 5 (Ages 6 - 11)

In the Discover Studio, which roughly tracks the elementary grade levels, children learn at their own pace using the latest in educational technology for mastery of reading, writing, and math skills through self-directed goal achievement. As they complete their learning quests, learners collaborate cooperatively with their community while using adaptive technologies to explore new ideas and opportunities.

The Discover Studio is a magical environment where Discover Studio learners advance with the ability to:

• Work independently in a focused way

• Receive and provide feedback

• Treat others with respect

EXPLORER

Grades 6 to 8 (Ages 11 - 14)

During the Explorer years, learners hone their ability to work independently while harnessing their community collaboration skills from Discover Studio. As an Explorer, your child will develop a well-rounded understanding of their character, begin exploring their talents and gifts in a deeper manner and start to gain a sense of their purpose and future in life. We believe the Explorer Studio is a time to build character, seek independence, and gain an understanding of self and others.

When learners leave Explorer Studio, they are able to:

• Work hard independently and in teams

• Produce excellent work

• Add positive energy to the tribe

LAUNCH PAD

Grades 9 to 12 (Ages 14- 18)

Launchpad is designed to help guide students to pursue their passions, develop their skill set, and find new extensions of their creativity. Acton’s learner-driven model gives adolescents the freedom to design their own high school experience.

While some students engage in self-paced AP classes, others might be building portfolios in preparation for college applications and job interviews. Launchpaders will complete apprenticeships each year that are aligned with their own career goals.

When learners leave Launchpad Studio, they are able to:

• Identify and act upon their powerful “why;” they have developed a

• superpower skill and a clearly defined “next great adventure.”

• Reason, speak, and write clearly, persuasively, and beautifully

• Function as servant leaders
